Yosemite National Park Service Project

Day  1 | Arrive to San Francisco and drive to Yosemite
On arrival to San Francisco Airport we will be met by our guide and driver. We will head directly into the rugged outback! The drive to Yosemite Park will take about 4 hours so we will grab lunch to eat on the way. Upon our arrival to the Park, we will have a brief orientation, dinner and then get rested and prepared for our project starting tomorrow! (D)

Day 2 | Service Project
There are limitless opportunities for learning and exploration in Yosemite. We can design the program according to your groups needs. The stays in the Park vary from 2 nights to 5 nights. There are options to do different hikes in the Valley while learning about the geological processes that formed the Sierra Nevada mountain range and Yosemite Valley, snowshoeing or cross country skiing in High Sierra meadows while learning about the winter adaptations of the plants and animals that live there (in the winter season), Completing team-building challenges and exploring lessons on leadership while hiking to the top of one of Yosemite Valley’s waterfalls, Hiking in a giant sequoia forest while learning about the unique ecological interconnections that support these ancient and rare trees.

This program is just an example of what you can do at the park. Ask us for more options.

The first day we always spend the morning getting to know the park with our guides. In the afternoon, we will begin our program with our Park coordinator. After the dinner there is always some evening programs that complement the material being presented during your field day. (B, L, D)

Day 3 | Service Project – Water Study
After breakfast we gather and study water samples stream side to help the park understand the health of the water sources running through the valley. (B, L, D)

Day 4 | Service Project – Wilderness Hike
Today, we head out into the wild for a full day of adventure hiking through the spectacular trails and mountains of Yosemite. (B, L, D)

Day 5 | Back to San Francisco
After a pleasant stay at the park, we pack up and head to the big city by bus and train and get settled in our Fisherman’s Wharf hostel.  In the evening we will hit the wharf for dinner as we are staying in one of the best restaurant areas in the city. (B, D)

Day 6 | San Francisco Full Day Tour
Today, we hit the town and get to know San Francisco the fun way. Our guide knows the city like the back of his hand, so we board the cable car from Fisherman’s Wharf to the center and learn part of the city’s history that way. San Francisco’s cable cars are symbolic of the charm and distinct flavor of the city. In no other place can you ride a moving national historic monument. From the center we take public transportation to Golden Gate Park where we start to explore the Park’s best views and hidden locations while learning about the history and tales of this oasis of the city. The best part is, we do this all by segways. After a full day, we will return to the hostel in time for dinner. (no meals)
