The Yucatan Adventure

Day 1Arrival in Mexico Bienvenidos! – Travel to your hotel in Cancun, settle in and acclimatize to the warm Caribbean air. Meet with your guide for orientation.

Day 2Chichen Itza – Morning departure through the dense jungle of the Yucatan Peninsula to the fascinating site of Ek Balam.  We continue on to the impressive ruins of Chichen-Itzá for our expertly guided tour of the fascinating ruins. Afterwards, we head to Mérida, the colonial capital of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Day 3Merida – Today begins with a morning city tour of the historic center, regional museums, and bustling market. After lunch, we’ll enjoy some free time to relax and take in Merida’s lively markets and squares with time to explore the colonial architecture, cathedrals, and monuments of this thriving Yucatan city.  In the afternoon, we’ll visit to local Mayan village and hammock factory.

Day 4Uxmal – Today begins with a morning visit to the ancient ruins of Uxmal, including an expertly guided tour of the site featuring the amazing Palace of the Governors.  After lunch, we visit the caves and archeological remnants at Loltun Caverns before continuing on to Valladolid.  Next, we set out to visit one of the Yucatan’s enchanting fresh water underground pools, cenotes, for a picnic lunch and optional swim.

Day 5-7Ruins/Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve – Our journey towards the Caribbean Sea takes us to the ruins of Coba, buried in lush rainforest habitat where monkeys abound. After lunch, we continue on to Tulum – its setting overlooking the sea is unmatched.  We’ll continue on to the Sian Ka’an Ecolodge in the center of one of the most important and largest protected areas
in all of Mexico and our home for the next three nights.  Snorkeling, sea kayaking, and wild nature awaits!

Day 8-9Caribbean Coast – Our last full day, we explore the coast en route to Puerto Morelos for our last night’s farewell fiesta. We depart on Day 9.
