Yosemite National Park Service Project

Day  1 Arrive to San Francisco and drive to Yosemite – Today, we board our plane early and arrive at the San Francisco Airport around midday.  We will be met at the airport by our guide and driver and head into the rugged outback!  The drive to Yosemite Park will take about 4 hours so we will grab lunch to eat on the way.  Upon our arrival to the Park, we will have a brief orientation, dinner and then get rested and prepared for our project starting tomorrow!

Day 2 - Service Project – Today, we spend the morning getting to know the park and then in the afternoon, we will begin our program with our Park coordinator. (B,L,D included in the park)

Day 3Service Project – Park Maintenance Project – Today, we join forces with the Yosemite Park Maintenance crew and begin a portion of our service hours.  We will be assembling picnic tables that are places around the park for visitors and groups to use. In the evening, we will have an educational program back at camp and get to meet some of the other high schools doing service projects as well. (B,L,D included in the park)

Day 4Service Project – Wilderness Hike – Today, we head out into the wild for a full day of adventure hiking through the spectacular trails and mountains of Yosemite. (B,L,D included in the park)

Day 5Service Project – Water Study – Today, we gather and study water samples stream side to help the park understand the health of the water sources running through the valley.  At 3:00 pm, we pack up and head to the big city and get settled in our Fisherman’s Wharf hostel.  At 7:00 pm, we will connect with SSFS Alumni in the City for dinner at the Ana Mandara Restaurant at Ghirardelli Square. (B,L,D included in the park)

Day 6San Francisco Full Day Tour – Today, we hit the town and get to know San Francisco.  Our guide knows the city like the back of his hand, and he has some great suggestions!  He will make some recommendations, and we can basically “design our day” based on the group’s interests.  We can also split into a few smaller groups if chaperones and students want to do different visits!

Day 7Departure – Bright and early departure for home, so we will get up early and head to the Bart Station to catch our flight!  Have a safe trip!
