Four Corners-The American Southwest
Day 1 - Mojave Desert, CA Arrival, Orientation – Today begins our visits to some of the most spectacular and pristine parts of the Desert South West of the United States.
Day 2 – Zion National Park, UT – Today, we hike to the towering heights of Angels Landing where the wind whips through rock canyons and we end up on top of the world.
Day 3 - Bryce Canyon National Park, UT – Kodachrome State Park Camp Ground – We will have a mid day stop in Capitol Reef National Park to see the spectacular sights this smaller park has to offer and then arrive in the famous Bryce Canyon National Park for a sunset hike.
Day 4 – Arches National Park, UT – Riding on the Devils Spine, Sunset Hike Arches National Park - Get ready for an intense experience with the stark landscapes and native cultures of the region, while challenging yourself physically.
Day 5 – Arches National Park, UT – In the morning, take an optional mountain biking tour or hike in this spectacular desert. In the afternoon, we will learn about the culture and geology of the Southwest hiking in Canyonlands National Park.
Day 6 – Monument Valley, UT – We will have a hiking tour of the geology and petroglyphs of Monument Valley with native guide. Discussion to follow the hike: Native Americans, then and now.
Day 7 - Grand Canyon National Park – We arrive at the rim of the Grand Canyon and prepare for our big hike tomorrow morning. There is an optional IMAX, and we will learn about the Colorado River and plateau from the local park rangers before hitting the sack.
Day 8 – Grand Canyon National Park - Hike, hike, hike! You’ve got to see it to believe it; they don’t call it grand for nothing!
Day 9 – Mojave Desert, CA – Today, we visit Hoover Dam and then its time to pack up to get ready to go back to California. Last night reflections.
Day 10 – Departure – Home Sweet Home. Back home to a nice soft bed.
