Costa Rica Eco Adventure
Day 1 – Welcome to beautiful Costa Rica! – Upon arrival we will head across the continental divide to the northern Caribbean slopes where the active Arenal Volcano nestles. Explore the town of La Fortuna and then head off to the local hot springs to enjoy the soothing natural volcanic waters.
Day 2 – Arenal – This morning we will take a short hike to a stunning waterfall in the rainforest. After lunch, we head to the Sky Trek and Tram that will have your system pumping adrenaline as you swing over canopy trees tops
and across canyons with vistas of the volcano and lake.
Day 3-4 – Monteverde – Today, we have a beautiful drive towards the highlands of Monteverde, home of the cloud enshrouded elfin forest and exotic tree frogs. En route, we circumnavigate the Arenal Reservoir and catch glimpses of Howler monkeys and Coati Mundis, a mammal related to the raccoon. Gradually, we make our way from the steamy lowlands to the chilly pacific slopes.
Day 5-7 – Guanacaste – After a hearty breakfast, we migrate back to the dry lowlands, known as the “pampa brava” in the province of Guanacaste. We make our way past scenic pueblos and endless cattle pastures to the Hacienda Chapernal, an old cattle ranch in the region. This afternoon we are introduced to the Costa Rican cowboy culture at a “Fiesta Brava,”or local rodeo and ranch barbeque.
We all want to get to the beach so let’s be sure to get up early each day and hit the playa! Rest assured we will enjoy sun, surf, and sand before heading back to the Hacienda where our horses await to take us on a beautiful sunset ride! As tonight is our last night, we will celebrate our adventure the Costa Rican way with dancing, singing and many more surprises!
Day 8 – Guanacaste – After breakfast, everyone will have some leisure time to pack up their personal gear. We have some time to wander around town and visit a local souvenir shop before heading to the airport. Have a safe trip home!
