A Taste of Brazil

Day 1 – Arrival in RIO DE JANEIRO – Upon arrival, you are met by your guide to your hotel, located a half-block from Copacabana Beach. Take a tour of nearby Sugar Loaf Mountain and then head out for an evening of traditional samba music along with a wide variety of other Brazilian beats.
Day 2 – RIO DE JANEIRO – Today, walk along Copacabana Beach to Ipanema Beach where you have some time to visit the Ipanema Hippie Fair, a major attraction for tourists and locals alike. A wide variety of colorful handmade wares and souvenirs are available, such as paintings, leather goods, bijouterie, and esoteric articles.
Day 3 – RIO DE JANEIRO – Today, get ready for a musical percussion workshop focusing on Brazilian instruments and a trip into the origins of Brazilian music. In the afternoon, we tour Corcovado Mountain, Santa Teresa & downtown “Old Rio.” You travel by van to the base of the imposing Statue of Christ with arms outstretched over Rio on Corcovado Mountain, perhaps the
most recognized icon of South America.
Day 4 – RIO DE JANEIRO / SALVADOR – We take an early AM domestic flight to Salvador da Bahia. Cruise the streets of this cultural heartland and catch the Welcome to Salvador musical event, with dinner in the up-beat Pelourinho.
Day 5 – SALVADOR DA BAHIA – Today, we have a full day city tour, which includes the following: Pelourinho, also known as the Colonial City, with its imposing Baroque architecture, declared part of World Heritage by UNESCO because of its historical significance and intense variety of cultural activities.
Day 6-8 – SALVADOR DA BAHIA – Today we visit Praia do Forte, a small fishing village north of Salvador along a wild and pristine coast called “The Coconut Highway.” The village takes its name from a castle built in 1552 by the Portuguese settler, Garcia D’Avila. Returning to Salvador, we stroll through the old city to check out the colorful evening street life and folklore
show at Miguel Santana. On day 8, we head to the airport in time for your domestic flight to Sao Paulo or Rio International
Airport to connect to your international flights home.
